"Wonderful friendly staff - Marie-Helene and the rest of the staff made us feel totally at home. Delicious freshly cooked food. Super calm and peaceful in beautiful surroundings - a tonic after Dakar and Saint Louis. Relatively accessible for Saloum Delta which we loved. Great air conditioning. Lovely swimming pool"

Water pressure was low at certain times - pipe being repaired, so perhaps temporary. You'll need a car to get around (we got a taxi for 10.000 - 15.000 CFA each way to Ndangane.)

"This is a fantastic location if you want to get away from the bustle of the city and only half an hour from the airport and Agadir. Beautifully restored Kasbah with productive gardens and a salt water pool (perfect if like me you can't cope with chlorine) We were lucky enough to visit after rain and the wildflowers blooming in the surrounding fields were beautiful. Staff couldn't be more helpful and friendly."

"Exceptional environment, well-kept, among the trees, calm, peaceful. The cottages are built in such a way that they have a pleasant temperature without air conditioning or fans. At night, for the first time in Gambia, I had to cover myself with a duvet. The owner and staff were extremely kind, accommodating, unobtrusive."

"O ambiente e instalações do hotel são incríveis! Tem uma pegada ecológica com sistema de aquecimento sustentável. Muito legal! Na recepção tem jogos de mesa (dama, pebolim, sinuca). Nos chalés, o quarto é aconchegante e o banheiro tem tamanho adequado. O espaço que é servido o café da manhã é bom e as opções também."

A acomodação é um pouco afastada do centro, o que acarreta custos adicionais com transporte até os pontos de onde sai os passeios, restaurantes etc.

"Located exactly on the mountain, with exceptional views. Facilities were clean, comfortable and well heated. Staff were very helpful to transfer us to the hotel when we arrived, as the car park was a bit far from the hotel. They also treated us exceptionally well, and were always ready to accommodate us with our needs. Food and drinks were also really good. All in all 10/10 stay"

"Comfortable stay in a Vintage house, outback-Australia style. Has all things in the kitchen to use if self catering.Hot shower .Central, close to a lovely beach and restaurants. But 2 km from main supermarket. Recommended"

"O Shamwari com certeza foi nosso ponto alto da viagem !!! All inclusive ( incluindo bebidas alcoólicas ) muito bem decorado, lindo , os funcionários são todos muito simpáticos e muito prestativos, a comida é maravilhosa e os safaris nem se fala !!! A piscina já dá de cara com uma fonte de água onde passam por lá zebras , girafas , antílopes entre outros animais . Os safáris duram 3 horas ou mais e nosso guia Abel foi espetacular ! Faz de tudo para conseguirmos ver os big 5 e vai explicando tudo ! Reserva enorme, com muitos animais e você não vai se arrepender !"

"Nice forest hut on the edge of a forest - 10 min to a beach by foot. You are really almost in the middle of nature here. The forest was full of blackberries when we were there. The kitchenette corner is smallish but sufficient to make a meal for a family of four."

It may be a bit challenging to find the right road leading to the house, but we managed. Go past the road leading to the two storey apartment houses, and turn to the left of the warehouse-like structure which is further on the road.

"The room was beautiful opening up to a sea view. Could go kayaking from just outside the room. The lodge had kayaks and life jackets available to guests. Could also go fishing or swimming - just idyllic! The staff were also really helpful. I would most definitely stay here again."

I can’t think of anything i didn’t like

"Very comfortable room, although close to main road no significant road noise. Lovely setting at edge of town with immediate access for cycle or walking in fields behind. Staff very helpful and food good value for hotel facilities. Ample breakfast included too. They offer excursions but we did not try due to lack of time. Hotel arranged transfer to airport which was perfect."

Em especial Duncan, que nos acolheu muito bem, Pauline - nossa querida garçonete que se tornou amiga ♥️ e ao John, nosso herói que nos proporcionou visões incríveis dos animais no nossos passeios de carro. "ВСЕ!!! 10 дней, которые мы были в отеле, были окружены заботой, теплом, вниманием и помощью персонала по всем вопросам (включая практически невозможный обмен авиабилетов из Янгона в Бангкок не выходя из отеля) Пляж - просто прекрасен. Да, на нем нет удобств (кроме лежаков около отеля), но и отдыхающих, в общем-то, тоже нет. И 1,5 км пустынного пляжа в твоем полном распоряжении каждый день - что может быть лучше... Еда в ресторане не блещет разнообразием, но ОЧЕНЬ достойная. Морепродукты, естественно, свежайшие, каждый день! Отдельные слова благодарности хозяйке! За почти 30 лет путешествий по миру было очень немного мест, где хозяин лично встречает и провожает гостей, и каждый день интересуется настроением и возможными вопросами к проживанию. Если будет возможность - непременно стоит сюда приехать!!!"

Apart from the very cosy and interesting architecture , I appreciated the quality of the small things in the room , like sheets , furniture , and bathroom finishes, things that make your stay very pleasant. "We were generously upgraded to the Langakali house from the Heilala initially booked at no extra charge. This worked out perfect having the extra bathroom. The house was easily accessible on our arrival with overall good communication from the renters. Nina was beautiful and did countless loads of washing for us with no hesitation included in the accomodation price. Green Lodge is close proximity to town and our families village so was a prime location for us. Screens on doors and windows were a plus, coils and basic toiletries and essentials were provided and ample storage throughout. A quiet area that felt very safe. Style of the house is older, but comfortable enough, we felt at home being here."

Although screens were throughout, you will still need repellent and extra coils. The ensuite bathroom toilet wouldn’t always flush properly and the wifi wasn’t working. It would be a plus to have one more fan in the third bedroom of the Langakali house and

"A little gem of a hotel in a most beautiful location. The staff give an extremely warm reception, they are super friendly, very helpful and very knowledgeable about the area and what can be done…..if they didn’t know, they knew someone who does. For example, they arranged a night watching the turtles and a guide to walk some local waterfalls. The food was out of this world, fresh and local produce cooked by chefs who’ve been cooking their whole life."
